New Year’s Resolutions – Be Kind to Yourself in 2019

It’s 2019 – a new year, a fresh start and a great chance to set some goals for the coming 12 months on anything you want to achieve.

We can be very un-selfish when it comes to self-care and taking a step back from life sometimes to ask ourselves – what do I want? How do I feel? What do I need?

So once a week, why not try to dedicate a night or even just an hour to you. What do you want to do to help you feel the very best you can be?

Maybe you can put your mobile phone on aeroplane mode and just spend time with your family, or schedule a drink with some friends, or even simply to put your pyjamas on and watch a really cheesy film. Anything which helps you to switch off and feel good.

What makes you happy? Because when you feel your very best, this reflects and spreads across to your family, friends, colleagues – everyone.

MIND, BODY, SOUL

Being kind to your mind and body will help to fill your soul with happiness. Living a healthy lifestyle is a great way to do this. It not only helps to improve your mood, but it will be kind to both your body and your mind.

How about trying 6 out of 7 days a week where you eat a balanced diet, concentrating on delicious fresh veg, fruit and protein (with the occasional sweet treat!) and saving one day a week to indulging slightly more than normal. That way you’re keeping your body happy and your mind happy when you don’t have to constantly regret eating a cheeky chocolate bar!

Doing exercise is another way to be kind to your mind and body. You’ll be keeping muscles moving to help your body be strong and the increased endorphins will mentally help you feel good and de-stressed. It doesn’t have to be a regimented programme, just try and do half an hour exercise a day to keep you feeling your very best.
